When i'm at wdw I'll try and take a photo of someone with him....should be interesting :D

and just think, he'd be lighter on your carry on luggage

have a good one

I can't resist putting my 20 cents worth in on this one......

I am positively horrified at the thought of an armless, legless, decapitated Pal Mickey dangling from a belt.

Do you suppose the Pal Mickey is not made strongly enough or are the owners just too rough with them.....

Borders on Sacrilege!!!

Course, I now want to see the photo of such desicration .
Maybe if the guys on their world tour read this they might take a photo for us and post it.

hey,

from what I read, they want the info that pal mickey gives, but not the cumbersome weight waling around the parks...so..off with his head.[and arms legs etc].
I will keep an eye out when I go, and see if this is true or an urban myth :D

poor mickey!

have a good one

I think we can debunk this as a myth...but with a little bit of truth tied in as well :)

At $65USD for Pal Mickey, you can be sure that no one is decaptitating him, also - his arms are required to enter responses, so there can be no chopping off of his appendages :)

Now a possible source of the myth - during Pal Mickey's development, test boxes were handed out to guests without the Mickey body and head - these were to test the technology (signal transmitters and the receiver) get guest reactions to the vocal content and obtain feedback to improve the system prior to the commercial launch. It may have been these box units that lead to the decapitation rumours.

hey,

well i'll be there in 54 days, so I will take as many photos of pal mickey in all his glory.....hopefully he will be intact, but you never know.

I have decieded not to buy him, as he would get a bit heavy after a while and some people say if you walk quickly thru attractioins he gets a wee bit confused and befuddled!

did i mention its only 54 days????

woo hoo :D

We bought Pal Mickey and we loved him! He comes out with some very funny things - take him to the Tower of Terror or the Haunted Mansion and he gets scared - very funny!

We only wish he had a better harness - the lanyard and clip is not the best.

Did you hang him on your backpack? Was he annoying? I want one but don't want him if I end up leaving him in the room as he is a pain in the ...... back pack.

He comes with a lanyard (just like a pin lanyard) that clips to the back of his head. Della carried him around her neck all the time - but she also wore a bum-bag around her waist so he would comfortably sit on that the whole day long!

We were told he has to face forward to pick up the signals and we achieved that with the bum-bag and lanyard and lanayrd method. But in reality he was picking up the signal where ever he was - even when we put him in the back pack during rides like Big Thunder, he would still activate. When he picks up a signal, he vibrates and giggles, then you have to squeeze his hand to hear what he has to say - so you need him in close proximity.

There are a couple of photos in my gallery of Della with Pal Mickey.

That's what Della said - and that's why we had to have him :)

I will be adding to the gallery - I just need the time to sit down and resize some more photos (it would be so much better if I didn't have a job to go to each day!)

Keith, was just wondering how Della's Pal Mickey was holding out?
Does he still talk or has he run out of batteries? :)

And by the dates in Karen's signature, she was returning from WDW today too. Wonder if she took any photos of decapitated Pal Mickey's?
(Welcome home Karen :) )
