I had been planning a trip to Japan (probably about now in fact) and am following all of the opening news where I can. Everything is back to normal here apart from a few restrictions travelling to some provinces and I'm hoping that Thailand will be on the Japan safe list when the time comes. Having a New Zealand passport will also be an advantage possibly.

Yeah - I can't see us going anywhere in quite a while.  Glad to hear things are opening up in Thailand again Greg.

I think we'll see a national opening up here soon - Queensland are still keeping their borders closed, but they'll have to come to the party eventually - community transmission has all but stopped now.  I can't see us being allowed to go overseas though for another year.

And Disneyland has announced it is reopening on 17 July - it's 65th anniversary.  Downtown Disney will open a week before that.

Should be interesting to see how the US openings go.
I’m not sure where/when our next park visit will be, but holiday wise we will probably just travel in Australia and hopefully we’ll get to Queenstown after having to cancel our planned trip in March.
I’m still working from home most days. Organization is planning for everyone to be back in the office full time by end of July. I can’t believe we’re already in June. This year has flown!
Hope everyone is well!

Can't really say it hasn't been memorable though. :-)

I'm assuming that there will be limited guests. I know that, as much as I might want to go, I simply can't get there.

Two of my friends in Hong Kong have already been to the park and were excited to go back even though the atmosphere isn't the same due to low crowds and less shows and parades.

I can finally cancel my trip to the USA in Oct/Nov for a full credit which doesn't have to be used until Dec 2022.  This week I returned to working 5 days and most of those days are in the office.  All staff have to be back on 6 July.  I will say with lower staff and seeing some people more than I usually do (and others far less), I was enjoying the office camaraderie more.

Most states still have borders closed and while I'd like them to reopen for the sake of the economy, those Victorians aren't making a great case for this :?.  Of course most of those are from people still in quarantine after returning from overseas.  My first trip will likely be Canberra to see my sister and then possibly Sydney and Perth before I can get overseas - 2022 is the goal.

And today they've announced Disneyland Paris is reopening on 15 July - so that's all the parks now except for Tokyo.

Glad you are back at work Karen.  I'm still working from home for the time being, but I think Della is going back from the 1st July (although she isn't too keen on that!).

And now Tokyo Disney Resort has announced its reopening date - 1 July 2020.  So by the end of July, all Disney Parks will be reopened - albeit in a reduced capacity.

Well that didn't go well.  Disneyland Resort in Anaheim has cancelled its reopening plans for 17th July and will now remain closed until further notice.

California recorded over 7,000 new cases yesterday - it's largest day of new cases since the pandemic began - its previous highest day was just over 5,000 cases, so that was a big jump.

I really have to wonder about the US when you look at the panic that sets in when NZ or Aus have even a tiny percentage of that number.

I personally feel that USA has opened up quickly compared to other countries, however perhaps we think differently as our Govt's managed to keep the numbers lower.  It is comforting to see that Disneyland is taking it seriously enough to hold back on opening.  Will be interesting to see if WDW follow suit.

Hong Kong Disneyland announced it is closing back down from tonight.  Today is its last day of trading.  The COVID numbers in Hong Kong have commenced an upward turn.  Mind you, they only reported 38 cases but that is a steady increase from over the last few weeks.  The government doesn't want cases to get into the residential tower blocks (we've seen what has happened in Melbourne and on cruise ships for that matter) - it would be way worse in Hong Kong.  No indication on when it might reopen.
