I'm definitely going to be at the convention centre for the opening. The registration centre opens at 7:00am where you exchange your ticket for a wrist band, and the doors to the expo open at 8am. I would like to see Iger's speech - but I just don't know how practical that is going to be - won't everyone else try and get into that too?

She's getting very close - and the excitement is mounting!

Gerard - they are reporting on Micechat this morning that the D23 tickets are arriving in your email - have you got yours yet? I can't log into my email from work so I'll have to wait until I get home!

Thanks Lisa - I'm sure we'll have some great stories to tell when we return.

I'm not sure how much internet time I'll have over there this trip - so updates may be few and far between, but we'll keep a diary of all our adventures and post lots of updates on our return.

At the moment, I'm just sitting at my desk at work watching the clock countdown to when I leave this afternoon - hoping no major disaster befalls us in the interim which would force me to work late!

Hey Gerard - have you got your fourth issue of the D23 magazine yet? I got mine last Thursday and it is great.

Features include
A Christmas Carol
Princess and the Frog
Prep and Landing
The Little Mermaid (20th Anniversary)
and a whole lots more.

There are some photos from the Expo, but they are going to do a big feature on it in the next issue. Once again, there is a small gift from the Walt Disney archives.

That's the last issue from our subscription, so I guess we'll have to renew sometime soon - I hope they make it easy for us - like sending us a reminder email with a link to renew.

Arrgghhhh - D23 are running a competition at the moment to win a great pin set called "Mickey through the years"

Problem is the competition is only open to US residents :( which kind of sucks considering the D23 club was meant to be for all Disney fans - not Disney fans that "legally reside in one of the 50 states or District of Columbia" (which rules out Canadian and European members too)

I know slightly off topic, but in line with this comment by Keith. The new campaign for next year Volunteer for a Day, get a Disney Day seems to also only be aimed at US Residents as well. They have to register and volunteer with a organisation of Disney's approval. I have not looked into it to see if they are going international, but when I watched the launch video, they didn't mention anything about international fans. At least with the birthday campain, everyone could use it. Does anyone know if my information is incorrrect and we have access to it?

If you are a D23 member, you can now renew your membership online by clicking here:
http://www.disneystore.com/d23/renew-a- ... /c/309700/

There are two levels of membership now - a Gold membership and a Silver membership.

Gold is the same as last year and includes the 4 issues of the excellent magazine. Silver is just a D23 membership without the magazine, but allows you to purchase any exclusive D23 membership items from the website, as well as allowing you to attend D23 exclusive events.

The cost is still $74.99US for the Gold membership and $64.95US for shipping. I was originally quite critical about the shipping cost, but I guess it is only $16US an issue.

You beat me to it Lisa, I was just about to post the news.

Here is the link to the official site
http://d23.disney.go.com/expo/031010_EE ... o2011.html

The Expo will be held on August 19-21 2011. Only three days this time but I can't imagine them running such a massive program of talks at the next one, so it makes sense.

It was announced today that the Expo will happen every two years, alternating with a new event called Destination D. Destination D will be held this year on September 24-25 at the Disneyland Hotel. See the link below for more details!
http://d23.disney.go.com/articles/03101 ... tionD.html

I don't think I'll be going to either, although I am tempted by the Expo...it was fun last year!

I just looked and shipping is $49.95 US but they don't accept non-US PayPal accounts
